All you need to know about how to get a tattoo in our London ON tattoo studio.

Our modern tattoo shop (or tattoo parlour if you prefer!) is on Richmond St in downtown London ON. Here’s how to Find Us

To get a custom tattoo from us, you must be 18 or over and provide the necessary ID. We require ONE of the following forms of ID:

  • Valid Government Issued Drivers Licence
  • Passport
  • Photo Health Card
  • Age of Majority card
  • Status Card
  • Military I.D.

Students and young people aged 16 and 17 can be tattooed only with parental consent. To minimize risk, we also do not offer tattoos for pregnant women.  For more details on parental consent/permission, see our T&Cs page.

Yes, we know that legally, there is no minimum age in Ontario for a person to get a tattoo, but a tattoo is a lifelong commitment. So, we want to ensure that young people are fully aware of the implications and that their parents consent to that choice. In short, no consent = no tattoo. Our shop, our rules.

A deposit will also be due.

In a word, yes. However, most of our customers find that the pain is perfectly bearable when the end result is so cool!

How *much* do tattoos hurt is another question. The pain you may experience depends on three key factors:

  • The part of your body you are having tattooed
  • Your tattoo design (bold lines, heavy shading and colour saturation hurt more)
  • Your pain tolerance levels

The pain experienced during a tattoo is said to be similar to that of repeated injections. Afterwards, the pain has been likened to bad sunburn. After your tattoo, you can use standard over-the-counter pain relief until the pain lessens. Appropriate skin aftercare will also help, which your tattooist will advise you on.

If you have a low pain tolerance level, you should consider your suitability for getting a tattoo. You might also like to consider a small tattoo to begin with, or in a less painful tattoo location, just in case.

We do not take bookings via Facebook or Instagram.

Our free 30-minute consultation is available to all, whether first-tattoo or experienced tattoo collectors. Simply call or book a consultation appointment online and come in to discuss your dream tattoo.

Once you’ve talked to our tattoo designers, you can have your tattoo done there and then (time permitting and subject to our T&Cs). Or you can come back another day to be inked. The choice is entirely yours.

Yes. When you make a tattoo appointment, we require a $50 deposit for every hour of time you have booked to hold your appointment, which does come off the total cost of the tattoo.

If your tattoo requires more than one appointment, we only need a deposit for your first appointment. Your deposit will be retained by us until your tattoo is completed and it will be deducted from your total amount owing.

A significant number of customers travel many miles to get tattooed here at Hanger 18, including across Middlesex Centre, St. Thomas, Sarnia, Strathroy, Southwestern Ontario, Oxford County, Ontario, and (yes) from other provinces in Canada.

Sorry, no. Our tattoo artists devote their full attention to creating your new tattoo without distraction. Chatting with your friend or keeping an eye on your kids is not part of that. Friends may stay in reception or visit our great coffee places nearby and come back at the end of your appointment. Minor children aged under 16 are not allowed inside our tattoo shop, even if accompanied by another adult or parent.

Yes, to both. As a fully licensed tattoo shop in London, ON, we are subject to random inspections by the Middlesex London Health Unit. Their inspectors will check all aspects of our tattoo shop, procedures, facilities, tools and supplies.

No, we do not offer piercings.

No, we do not offer laser tattoo removal at our tattoo shop. What we *do* offer is old tattoo cover-ups and redesigns. If you have a tattoo that you no longer like or is no longer appropriate to your personal circumstances. Contact us for a consultation. We have “converted” many old, outdated and (frankly) ugly tattoos into beautiful new works of art by skilfully incorporating the old design into a new one.

Yes. Our team can bring a favourite old tattoo back to life with new colours and extra design elements if required. Make an appointment with us to discuss your requirements and show us your old tatts!
